I need to be able to type fast in Polish on a laptop bought in the UK. I know there are shortcuts for Polish characters, but they don't seem to work in my Microsoft Windows 2007. There is also a website where you can type using Polish characters and then copy and paste, but using it would be too much bother while translating long texts. Would buying a Polish keyboard be a solution? How do professional translators cope with this problem? Please, help.
|Did you try to change the system language settings and select the Polish one?|
|You need to add the language pack.|
It will then give you extra languages that you can switch to using Windows key + spacebar.
The one I have loaded is Polish Programmers Keyboard.
When wanting to type you need to change to the poliosh keybord
To type the non UK characters you use.
alt gr + c = ć
alt-gr + e = ę
For some reason my previous post submitted befor I had finished writing, so this time I wrote it in notepad and then pasted it.
You say that it doesn't work in Microsoft Windows 2007. There isn't a Microsoft Windows 2007.
Did you mean Microsoft Windows 7 or Microsoft Ofiice 2007?
To type the polish chracters within windows you need install:
- Polski Language pack
- Polish keyboard (I'm using Polish (Programmers) QWERTY).
Below are two youtube tutorials showing you how to install a language pack in Windows 7 and Windows 10:
