About me:

I have been passionate about English for almost 20 years and teaching it has been an important part of my professional life. Over the past decade, I have worked at a university, a high school, and various private language courses in Istanbul. This experience has helped me develop a strong understanding of the typical difficulties English learners face and how to overcome them effectively. I hold two Master’s degrees and a CELTA with an A Pass.

Qualifications and experience:

I hold two Master’s degrees in Sociology and International Development, including one from UCL, which I consider a strong asset in my teaching. My academic background allows me to bring broader, real-world perspectives into the classroom and make language learning more meaningful and engaging. I am a CELTA-qualified teacher (Pass A) with over nine years of experience teaching English at university level, three years in high schools, as well as extensive experience in private language courses and one-to-one lessons. As a non-native speaker who learned English to a high level myself, I have a deep understanding of the learning process and the challenges students face, which helps me teach English in a clear, practical, and student-focused way.

Methods of teaching

My teaching is context-based and student-focused, with lessons designed around real-life situations and meaningful communication. Each lesson integrates multiple skills—speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary—to ensure balanced and practical language development. I adapt my methods to each learner’s goals, level, and learning style, creating engaging and effective lessons. I also have extensive experience preparing students for a range of international exams and formats, including Cambridge exams and PTE, with a strong focus on exam strategies as well as long-term language competence.
