About me:

Hello! My name is Jolanta, and I have been living in the UK since 2008. My journey in the UK began in 2004 when I first came here as a student. Over the years, I have gained valuable professional and personal experience that now helps me better support my students.
Teaching is not only my profession but also my passion. I truly enjoy working with children, teenagers, and adults, helping them build confidence and achieve their language goals in a friendly and supportive environment.
Currently, I work in UK secondary schools and serve as the Head Teacher of the Polish Supplementary School named after Squadron 303 in Norwich. I teach Polish language classes, including GCSE preparation courses, and I have successfully helped many students achieve excellent results through modern, engaging, and project-based teaching methods.
I also work as a GCSE Polish Assessor in UK schools, which allows me to fully understand the exam requirements and effectively prepare students for success.
My lessons are creative, interactive, and tailored to each student’s individual needs.
Many people believe that Polish is a difficult language; however, together we can make the learning process practical, effective, and enjoyable. Step by step, we build confidence and develop communication skills in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding Polish.

Qualifications and experience:

I am an experienced and dedicated educator with many years of teaching experience in both the UK education system and Polish Saturday schools. I specialise in teaching Polish as a foreign and second language to children, teenagers, and adults at different language levels.
Currently, I work as a teacher in UK high schools and serve as the Head Teacher of a Polish Saturday School, where I lead educational programmes and teach Polish language classes, including GCSE preparation and GCSE-level courses.
I am also a GCSE Polish Assessor in UK high schools, supporting and assessing students during their GCSE Polish examinations. This experience allows me to prepare students effectively for exam success and understand the requirements of the GCSE curriculum in depth.

Postgraduate Qualification in Teaching Polish as a Foreign / Second Language – University of Białystok
Postgraduate Qualification in Teaching English as a foreign language-Wrocław

Methods of teaching

My teaching style is friendly, professional, and student-centered. I create a positive and supportive learning environment where students feel confident, comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and actively participating in lessons.
I focus primarily on practical communication, building confidence, and supporting steady progress. Each lesson is tailored to the student’s age, language level, learning style, and individual needs.
During lessons, I focus on:
developing speaking skills from the very first lessons,
practical communication and language used in everyday situations,
preparation for the GCSE Polish exam,
project-based learning and creative tasks,
interactive, engaging, and interesting lessons,
natural vocabulary development,
clear and simple grammar explanations,
building fluency and self-confidence,
individual support and monitoring student progress.
In my teaching, I use modern educational materials such as conversations, language games, projects, texts, listening exercises, presentations, videos, and a variety of interactive activities. Thanks to this approach, lessons are dynamic, motivating, and effective.
Whether you are learning Polish for the GCSE exam, work, school, travel, family communication, or personal development, I will help you achieve your goals step by step in a friendly, motivating, and professional atmosphere.
During the course, you will gain knowledge of the basic grammatical structure of the Polish language, particularly in the areas of phonetics and morphology.
You will develop basic communication skills in understanding spoken and written Polish, as well as expressing yourself in Polish.
The course also focuses on communication used in everyday life.
Student assessment is continuous and includes:
grammar and vocabulary tests at the end of each teaching unit,
oral and listening comprehension tests,
exercises from the workbook and online learning platform,
grammar, vocabulary, and short writing tests (approximately 12 sentences) at the end of every sixth teaching unit.
