COURSE SUMMARY:
The course, led by our in-house team of professional trainers, will endeavour to cater to each participant's needs. Although there is planned course content, it aims not to be prescriptive but rather an organic forum for individual professional development; that is, we will deliver the course driven by you. As such, daily content may change or develop as you, your peers and the course leader decide on the best path.
WHO IS THIS FOR?
Aimed at: teachers (primary, secondary, higher education) and Teacher trainers. English level: min. Pre-Intermediate (B1).
OBJECTIVES:
The course offers participants an immersive experience where they will be given the opportunity to:
- Collaborate with peers of different nationalities and cultural backgrounds
- Take part in discussions and activities which promote the use of CLIL
- Increase their awareness of the rationale and application of CLIL
- Demonstrate their organisational and resourcing skills
- Improve their communication skills, vital for the delivery of CLIL
SAMPLE PROGRAMME:
1) Monday: Introductions and Professional Practice
- the rationale and effectiveness of CLIL
- integrating the four language skills into conventional and IT-rich classrooms
2) Tuesday: Teaching and Learning
- English language or subject-specific vocabulary at lesson delivery
- achieving and maintaining student motivation and progress
3) Wednesday: Offsite Training (a trip to one of Malta’s top attractions for a course-related project)
4) Thursday: Assessment and Feedback
- different types of assessments available and how they impact teachers and learners
- effective marking and giving feedback
5) Friday: Presenting, Summing Up and Moving Forward
- deliver a presentation or learning episode, which will be complete with engaging resources and is based on the offsite training day
- how to integrate (creative) content and language
