COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative force, mimicking human intelligence and significantly impacting various disciplines, including teaching. As AI becomes increasingly prevalent in educational settings, teachers must enhance their AI literacy skills to harness its benefits effectively.

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
The course is suitable for:
- Teachers working in an EMI (English-medium Instruction) or CLIL (Content and Language Integrated learning) context.
- Teachers of Upper Primary, Secondary, Vocational Education
- Experienced and novice teachers who want to explore new ideas and better understand how this cutting-edge resource might be used to enhance their teaching practices.
- Curriculum developers, and other education professionals interested in leveraging AI for enhanced language teaching and learning.
- Native and non-native English-speaking teachers and education professionals

REQUIREMENTS:
- Applicants must have a minimum B2 level of English, as outlined in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
- Teachers should bring a laptop or tablet, and a pair of headphones.

COURSE AIMS:
The aim of this course is to equip teachers with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to integrate AI effectively into their lessons, fostering a dynamic and technologically advanced learning environment.

COURSE METHODOLOGY:
Throughout the course, participants engage in hands-on activities, collaborative discussions, and reflective exercises to reinforce their learning. Participants also carry out practical work to plan, create and teach a lesson using AI and other interactive resources, and will finish the course with a digital portfolio of resources. Participants can take the opportunity to join ATC’s Teachers Forum where they can access continued support and sharing of best practice after the course has finished.

COURSE MODULES:
1) Introduction to Technology Integration AI: the Basics
- Understanding the role of technology, digital tools, and AI in teaching and learning.
- Identifying the benefits and challenges of incorporating technology into instruction, including the common pitfalls of using AI tools such as ChatGPT.
- Creating a digital portfolio
2) Adapting Traditional Lesson Plans
- Using AI tools to create customised lesson plans and reduce teacher planning time.
- Transforming existing lesson plans for seamless technology integration
- Selecting appropriate digital resources to enhance lesson content
- Incorporating interactive elements for increased student engagement
3) Digital Tools for Teaching
- Utilising digital platforms and tools to create engaging lessons, activities and materials
- Integrating AI in creating dynamic and adaptive lesson content and materials.
- Integrating gamified and interactive activities into lessons.
- Supporting learners’ needs with AI and other digital resources
4) Student-Centric AI Applications
- Exploring AI tools that support individualised language learning paths
- Personalising instruction and assessments through AI applications
- Addressing ethical considerations and best practices when using AI with students.
5) Digital Homework and Assignments
- Using technology to implement a flipped classroom.
- Designing effective and purposeful digital homework assignments
- Implementing online platforms for homework submission and feedback
6) Assessing with Technology
- Exploring digital assessment tools and strategies for language teaching contexts
- Addressing issues of fairness, authenticity, and reliability in digital assessment
7) Micro-Teaching and Practical Application (Project Work)
- Plan a short teaching segment applying the concepts learned throughout the course.
- Peer and instructor feedback to identify strengths and areas for improvement in technology, digital tools, and AI integration.
- Collaborative discussion on effective strategies and troubleshooting common challenges encountered during micro-teaching sessions.
- Creating a portfolio of resources, lesson plans and materials
- Reflection on the experience and consideration of adjustments for future implementation in real-life classrooms

INCLUDED IN THE COURSE:
- Lessons: 20 hours tuition + 10 hours of project work per week
- Course materials included
- Trainer feedback on project work
- Interactive discussions with other teachers
- End-of-course certificate

OTHER INFORMATION:
If minimum number per course are not met, we will offer participants a combination of General English development and Teacher Training Development as an alternative. Therefore:
- For courses with 9 particpants or more we will offer the full course as indicated.
- For courses with 5-8 particpants we will offer 20 hours General English and 10 hours of Teacher Training Development in the afternoons.
- For courses with 1-4 particpants we will offer 20 hours General English and 5 hours of Teacher Training Development in the afternoons.
